Hello ASHRAE! We have a special meeting planned for January, our President’s Lunch!

Bill McQuade, P.E., CDP, Fellow ASHRAE, LEED AP, who is the ASHRAE Society President will be visiting our chapter and will deliver some remarks on his 2025-26 ASHRAE Theme of "Healthy Buildings: Designing for Life" for our tech session. We will also recognize past chapter presidents during this time.

For the main technical presentation, we will have Nathan Kegel, BEMP, LEED AP, from IES to talk about Energy Modeling, the ASHRAE Heat Balance Method, and how Standard 90.1 has impacted load calculations.

Meet the Speakers

Bill McQuade, P.E., CDP, Fellow ASHRAE, LEED AP

VP, Government Affairs and Global Sustainability at BAC

Bio:

Bill McQuade is an ASHRAE Fellow and received the ASHRAE Exceptional Service Award in 2023. During his career, he has been awarded 22 U.S. and international patents related to chiller design, oil separation, chiller control algorithms and leak detection for flammable refrigerants.

McQuade has over 32 years of experience in the HVAC&R, serving in various roles. He is currently vice president for government affairs and global sustainability at Baltimore Aircoil Company Inc. (BAC) in Jessup, Maryland, where he is responsible for establishing and maintain relationships with regulators, legislators, associations and societies for the purpose collaborating in all areas that are relevant to the BAC businesses and provide for the benefit of its customers or society as a whole. In addition, he leads the development and implementation of the company's global ESG strategy, including setting ambitious goals and targets aligned with industry best practices and stakeholder expectations. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree and a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.

Nathan Kegel, BEMP, LEED AP

Bio:

Nathan has over 20 years of design and building performance simulation experience using a variety of design and modeling tools and platforms.  He has largely focused on lifecycle analysis, energy and carbon savings, and cost/benefit of building technologies.  He has performed design and post-occupancy analysis on hundreds of buildings and dozens of building types all over the world.  In addition, Nathan has built and led High Performance Design Teams, trained over 1,000 industry professionals on using and applying building performance simulation to the design process, and was the coach and captain of the ASHRAE Lowdown Showdown 2022 winners.  He is ASHRAE BEMP certified, a LEED AP, and a RESET AP and serves as the co-chair of the Data Analysis and Reporting Working Group for MEP 2040.
