Hello Austin ASHRAE! Please join us for this month’s meeting, hosted at HTS during lunch on Thursday, 3/12. The main presentation will cover Hydronics as a Solution to Achieve Electrification and Decarbonization, presented by Chris DesRoches of Swegon North America.
Come early to mingle at 11:30am and hear all of the ASHRAE announcements before the main event at 12:00pm/Noon.

Main Presentation
Title: "Hydronics as a Solution to Achieve Electrification and Decarbonization”
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the energy savings and comfort benefits of low temperature heating and high temperature cooling systems.
- Explore and understand the latest technologies contributing to the "A2L" all electric building, including Chilled beams, Fan Coils, Central heat pump plants, and ventilation equipment as well as the importance of integrated control strategies such as demand control ventilation.
- Review the benefits of an all-electric building when a complete system approach to equipment selection is taken, as demonstrated through case studies from Europe
Meet the Speaker:
Chris DesRoches – Business Development Manager – Heating & Cooling – Swegon North America
Bio:
Chris DesRoches is a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario with 15 years of experience in the HVAC industry in all aspects from Manufacturing, Product Development, Performance and Safety Testing to Technical Sales & Service. Chris is a subject-matter expert on Hydronic heat pump solution and electrification. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Chris began his career in HVAC manufacturing and has worked in the areas of terminal units, pumps and hydronic systems before moving into heating and cooling generation with large-scale heat pumps for hydronic systems. He gained invaluable experience as product manager for peat pump solutions during his tenure with Mitsubishi Electric and currently works as Business Development Manager for Swegon North America to support the industry on hydronic heat pump applications and the design of electrified hydronic systems.
With a passion for efficient and sustainable HVAC solutions, He has been a heat pump technology advocate supporting the industry with education on these innovative systems as the industry transitions to electrified buildings. He has been an active ASHRAE member since 2012 providing numerous presentations at the chapter level across Canada and the United States, ASHRAE conferences, as well as presenting through other industry associations such as HRAI, CIPH and CHC on Air-to-Water Technologies as a solution for electrification and decarbonization of hydronic systems. He has served as vice-chair of the Canadian Hydronics Council Codes & Standards sub-committee where he provided guidance on supporting the Canadian Hydronics industry transition to Heat Pump systems.
