Hello Austin ASHRAE! Please join us for the Austin ASHRAE Expo, where we will also have our April Chapter Meeting during lunchtime. In addition to the chapter lunch and technical presentation by David Bacorn, there will be a PDH presentation by DriSteem at 2pm and an IEQ Panel at 3:30pm. See below for all the details.

Meet the Speaker:

David Bacorn PE, LEED AP, CxA – Principal Engineer – Bacorn Bros, LLC

Bio:

David Bacorn, PE, LEED AP, CxA, is Co-founder and Principal Engineer at Bacorn Bros. LLC. He has almost two decades of industry experience designing, commissioning and managing MEP teams. His interest in the AEC industry started from childhood, where he shadowed his Master Electrician father on weekend job sites. David graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with Honors in Mechanical Engineering and has worked for several large firms in the Austin area prior to founding Bacorn Bros. He is also involved in the local ASHRAE Austin Chapter having held ranks as Treasurer, Vice President, President, RP Chair, and Regional Refrigeration Chair. David is a native Texan and has been proud to call Austin home since 2003. David and his wife are currently raising three beautiful boys. Their family enjoys boating on Lake Travis, traveling, and going to sporting events.

Meet the Speaker:

John Rees – Western Sales Manager – DriSteem

Bio:

John Rees is the West Region Sales Manager for DriSteem with (9) years working in Western U.S. and Canada to meet Customer humidification requirements. John has extensive experience applying traditional isothermal technologies and adiabatic technologies and has been directly involved with over (50) high pressure atomization projects during his tenure, applying them in many healthcare and process applications. ME, ASHRAE, CEM, LEED AP, CSHE.

Meet the Panelists:

Brice Watson, PE, WELL AP

Brice Watson is a project manager and senior mechanical engineer at CMTA. He specializes in healthcare, K-12, and higher education projects, leading energy efficiency and decarbonization initiatives across the country. His work includes numerous zero energy facilities, including several ASHRAE Society Technology Award-winning projects, such as the Lubber Run and Stead Park Community Centers. He has helped clients nationwide implement high-performance design strategies, including numerous geothermal systems, to achieve sustainability and resiliency. 

David McKenna, PE, LEED GA

David WP McKenna is a mechanical and plumbing design engineer for Cushing Terrell based in Central Texas. An expert in balancing the art and science of mechanical design, David helps his clients build for the future with thoughtful, sustainable, and efficient systems. His industry experience includes small business construction, hospitals, schools, mission critical facilities, and military bases. He has a deep understanding of every phase of the construction process, and also provides services in energy modeling, controls engineering, and construction administration.
