Plant Tour Description:

The University of Texas at Austin boasts one of the nation's largest microgrids with the Carl J. Eckhardt Combined Heating and Power Complex. This hands-on experience is a chance for our members to see firsthand how the facility generates 100% of the university's electricity, heating, and cooling.

Please wear closed-toed shoes since we will be walking over grated areas and stairs. Hearing protection will also be provided when we’re inside the plant. Feel free to read the attached Fact Sheet prior to the plant tour. Attendance is limited so register early!

Main entrance:

Main offices at 215 East 24th Street, 78712 in the Power Plant Expansion (PPE) building. The entrance is located along 24th street through a glass door. When you enter PPE, go up one flight of stairs to the 3rd floor.

Southwest entrance:

You can use the southwest entrance (in front of O’s café) which takes you to the elevators to the 3rd floor. The meeting will take place in the conference room 3.304.

Parking:

The closest parking garage is at the San Jacinto Parking Garage which is about a 5-8 minute walk to PPE. San Jacinto Garage is located at 2401 San Jacinto Blvd, 78705. Directions to our location are attached.
